As an Accounting Intern, you will be immediately responsible for various tasks from recording financial data to producing the related journals, general ledgers, payroll summaries, statements and tax returns. As an Accounting Intern at this firm, you will be professionally trained to serve the special needs of small businesses. This firm is seeking an enthusiastic candidate to intern as a member of their team. As this is an entry-level position, no prior experience is required; however, the candidate must have a strong interest in accounting/taxation. Job duties will include:

• Provide administrative support to the audit and tax groups
• Preparing Excel spreadsheets for tax analysis performed by professional staff
• Preparation of income tax returns
• Preparing and mailing of quarterly payment vouchers to local revenue authorities
• Creating and maintaining tax return and research files
• Facilitate sending & receiving of files for workers compensation audits
• Prepare and monitor General Ledger Postings
• Reconcile bank accounts and General Ledger Accounts
• Support professional staff with any task related to bookkeeping procedures
• Administrative duties will be required (e.g. typing, faxing, photocopying)

Successful Accounting Intern will be competent in the following areas:

• Completed three years towards a degree in Accounting or Business
• Detail oriented, responsible, and organized
• Able to focus on quality client service
• Proficient use of computers especially MS Excel
• Basic working knowledge of income tax law and the ability to participate in the production of tax returns
• Flexibility, resourcefulness and self-motivated to learn
