Job Description:
This Newspaper Journalism Internship is for mature college students, recent college graduates or graduate students. Preference is given to students majoring in Journalism, and to students using the internship to advance their college experience. Knowledge of and love for professional sports is also a plus.
The Newspaper Journalism Intern will have the following responsibilities:
- Responsible for writing, compiling and distributing media guide and program yearbook
- Write and distribute press releases on events
- Write stories/summaries on sporting events
- Attend sporting events
- Serve as liaison between contacts and our newspaper
- Build relationship with other members of the media
- Edit summaries and recaps and post stories on the website
- Assist with website maintenance
- Update social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia)
- Coordinate requirements from other Journalism Interns
Other duties include:
- Work 3 days in the local office each week
- Attend one weekly staff meeting
- May work with other journalism interns to cover events if they are absent
