Job Description:

A position is open at this large internet firm for a Networking Security Intern. The main purpose of this position is to assist Security Engineers in maintaining the security framework of their international ecommerce website.

Responsibilities and duties of this internship include:

• Assist in the management and monitoring of anti-virus, host-based intrusion prevention systems (HIPS), network intrusion prevention, firewalls, and vulnerability scanning
• Help perform white-box and black-box security assessments on all web applications
• Assist the information security group by performing User access assessments and provide new processes and control matrices for user access control
• Assist the team by performing best practice audits of various technologies
• Assist other members in the Information Security department in learning the different security toolsets
• Assist with Security Awareness and Training
• Review and monitor security policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines
• Assist in Incident Handling and Response

The successful Networking Security Intern will have the following experience:

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 operating system in a large enterprise environment, including security and hardening of servers.
• Basic knowledge of security and identity management concepts (PKI, SSL, privacy, workflows, provisioning).
• Basic knowledge of networking technology and security architecture.
• Basic knowledge of host hardening software, including anti-virus, disk encryption, and HIPS concepts.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and Oracle databases.
• Basic knowledge of CVS source control systems.
• Basic knowledge of TCP/IP.
• Basic knowledge of Cisco routers and switches.
• Basic knowledge of PIX firewalls.
• Basic knowledge of AS400 mainframes.
• Basic knowledge of Windows NT and Linux servers.

The intern must be a currently-enrolled, full-time college student attending school in the area, with an emphasis in Information Technology or a related field.
