Job Description:

The Advocacy Intern will work within the Health Initiatives and Patient Services Departments assisting with grassroots advocacy efforts. Activities may include recruiting members & volunteers for ACS CAN, coordinating support for Plant It Pink, and activities related to Division and National Access to Care Campaign. The Advocacy Intern will also assist with Health Initiatives outreach and program support.

 

All intern candidates must possess the following:

  • Demonstrate a relationship between their projected major field of study and the work of this health advocacy organization
  • Be full-time college students in good academic standing, completing their freshman year
  • Demonstrate a B average
  • Plan to continue their education in the following session

 

Additionally, successful candidates will possess the following characteristics:

 

  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Ability to speak to small groups and work with diverse constituents
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Have sound judgment
  • Be persuasive, deadline oriented, and flexible enough to adjust as new opportunities arise
  • Creative and motivated individual who thrives in a face-paced environment
  • Strong and effective team builder with strong interpersonal skills
